Keeping Up With The Olympians

Adult Animated Series Pitch | July - December 2024

Character Lineup

I was responsible for designing six of the twelve Olympians. The art style was loosely inspired by Greek sculpture with a preference for easily-definable shapes. Working closely with the creators of the pitch, I aimed to capture the colorful array of personalities of the Greek Gods all while focusing on incorporating each deities main motifs.

Zeus - Concept Exploration

King of the gods with the most inflated of egos, I aimed for Zeus to be a flirty playboy who's put-together facade crumbles the more you look at him. He was largely based off of carnivore diet influencers and crypto traders.

Hera - Concept Exploration

Hera was one of my favorite designs to explore! The pitch runners wanted a fed-up traditional housewife, so I aimed for a 1950's vibe with a modern chic twist.

Apollo - Concept Exploration

Apollo drew heavily from the bubbly, outdoorsy students I bumped into while attending SCAD. Since Apollo is most classically artsy god of the bunch, I tried to make him as vibrant and colorful as possible.

Ares - Concept Exploration

Ares is the quintessential angry emo kid. He's older than he acts, and wears his rage on his ripped-off sleeves. Ares is inspired by early 2000's alt fashion and band culture.

Demeter - Concept Exploration

Demeter is based off of classy southern summer fashion, aiming to make her someone I would see in my home town. I didn't want to make her too old, so to balance out her gray hair, I kept her dress asymmetrical and stylish with a focus on flowery shapes.

Dionysus - Concept Exploration

Dionysus is the designated wild child, always seen lugging a keg everywhere he goes. I based him on 2010's frat culture, with a twinge of influence from a friend of mine.

Hematemesis

Personal Project | 2023 - Present

Rhyvet Model Sheet | 2024

After settling on a color palette and clothing style, I refined Rhyvet's design further. I originally wanted him to have fiery red hair to compliment his temper, but found that the color would be at odds with his brooding personality, so I reduced the color to just his fringe.

Rhyvet Color Exploration | 2023

Rhyvet is an ex-scholar and man-in-hiding. I wanted his clothing to appear inconspicuous and shady while also having a twinge of wealth to it. With that in mind, I gave him a more muted color palette with splashes of saturated color.

Rhyvet Clothing Exploration | 2023

As Rhyvet spent most of his life in a colder climate,  I researched Byzantine winter wear, eventually settling on an open cape design that complimented his tunic. The main goal was to design a cloak Rhyvet could easily hide in, either from others or from himself.

En Clothing Exploration | 2023

En comes from a semi-arid, temperate climate where layers are a must in order to keep from overheating. I wanted En to have a unique yet jester-like appearance, so I tried implementing loose shapes that accentuated his care free attitude.

En Color Exploration | 2024

En has a heavy connection to Ausverai, acting almost as the God's prophet. With this in mind, I began meshing the jester look with that of a priest, taking Ausverai's blood red neck as a motif for En's bodice.

Ausverai Expression Sheet | 2023

Ausverai is the disgraced patron god of a vanished civilization. He represents the concept of rebirth, manifesting in a golden and bloody appearance. I aimed for Ausverai to feel both welcoming and off-putting, giving him expressions that accentuate his bold nature.

Various Work

"Abex" Turnaround | 2021

Abex was my first detailed puppet rig in Toon Boom Harmony. I wanted him to appear closed off, with a bright interior once someone gets to know him. Making sure that his form and volumes worked in multiple views was pretty fun!

"Levi" Turnaround | 2021

After creating the Abex rig, I wanted to try my hand at another! Levi was heavily inspired by eccentric teen Y2K shows, like Invader Zim. I had a lot of fun learning how to create a master controller for her face rig, and I plan to upgrade her puppet in the future.
